John Deere now offers a solution for fleets and machines where ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) is unavailable. Deere is able to assist with the requirements for lower-regulated or non-regulated ULSD markets with the release of a Sulfur Compatibility Solution for select Tier 4 Stage IIIB/Interim and Tier 4 Stage IV/Final applications. This solution will be useful for owners of both current and future preowned equipment. Customers migrating highly regulated tier 4 machinery that needs ULSD will also benefit from this new solution.

The solution functions by disabling or eliminating systems that are prone to damage when using non-ULSD. Non-ULSD fuel contains sulfur level that exceed 15 parts per million (ppm). Deere’s solution primarily affects the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system and the exhaust after treatment system

“John Deere recognizes used machines will move from a highly regulated market to a lesser-regulated market,” said Craig Timmerman, engine and driveline product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “Installation of these solutions will ensure the highest level of uptime for customers, regardless of the sulfur content of the fuel.”
